Pune MLA Ramesh Wanjale Dead
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s MLA Ramesh Wanjale (45) famously known as the 'Gold Man' died of cardiac arrest in a in Jahangir Hospital at 10.00 PM last night. Though the doctors at the hospital tried hard to stabilise his condition, he failed to respond to the treatment. Doctors at Jahangir Hospital tried everything possible to save Wanjale and it was decided to conduct an Angioplasty. Wanjale's condition worsened and he died during treatment at about 10.05 pm.Wanjale had an appointment for an MRI scan at Joshi Hospital on Friday after he complained of shoulder and spinal pain. “He was advised to undergo shoulder, cervical spine and whole spine screening. He arrived at around 7 pm at the MRI section. He collapsed soon after he was taken for screening.
He was later shifted to Jahangir Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Wanjale is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Wanjale's body was later sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post mortem.
Wanjale took on the Congress-NCP alliance in Khadakwasla, which is a part of the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. He defeated Vikas Dangat of the Congress and the BJP’s Murlidhar Mohol.
He wore nearly two kg of gold while campaigning and said he wanted transparency so that he would not be accused of making money after he became an MLA.
Wanjale was fascinated with gold ornaments and used to wear gold thick gold chains and bracelets totally weighing 800 grams and worth Rs 12 lakh.
